Did you know that there is not just one type of termite?  There are many types of termites but, as far as our homes here are concerned, we can break it down to two major groups that you may find giving you trouble.  We want to let you know that we are experienced in handling both!  Termites are nothing to mess around with and we are the professionals to call.

The first type of termites are the subterranean termites.  These termites are found throughout the United States and can be found in every state except Alaska. Termites come up from the ground and can enter through a crack as thin as a strand of hair. They will continue to forage, eat your house, move through expansion joints and cause serious damage.  Even in a new house built of concrete, you can still get these termites in your home.  They can get up in your home, go straight to your attic and take your entire roof out.  We treat around the whole house.  We use a very specific process to ensure that we kill them, and keep them out of your home.

Drywood termites are also very common in Florida.  This is a more tropical termite and is found throughout Florida, across the southern coast and up into California. You may see a home with a tent over it, those homes have these types of termites. Like birds, they can just fly right into your house.  They can eat through just about anything and this problem takes a lot of very detailed work to rectify.  Our staff is highly trained on termite work because it is so specific.  We know how and where to treat so that we make sure that we get rid of them before they do any more damage. We also have the best treatments available to treat not only active termite issues but to prevent them in the first place. We are finding in the, last two decades, more than 65%, and growing, of our termite treatments are preventative. The general public is getting more and more educated on what it means to live in a tropical climate and are taking the right steps to protect themselves.  The old adage, “its not if but when” is never more accurate than when you are talking about termites in Florida.

Did you know? That a study was actually done by a Florida University that found the average acre of ground in Florida had multiple termite colonies. Multiple! Yes it is true and it is the law of averages. Maybe your ¼ acre has none and maybe it has 20. Regardless, now you know. And knowing is the first step to acting. You would not live on the beach and not have storm shutters. You would not have a car and not change the oil. You should not have a home in Florida and not have it protected against termites. My job is just to share information. What you do with that information is up to you. I will not judge you too harshly. Please, do your research and call us for a free inspection.
