You may not know this, but raccoons could potentially be one of the most dangerous animals to get in your home.  Not necessarily because of ferocious behavior, but because of the diseases they carry, and the droppings they leave behind.  Sometimes you may assume that it is a rat or mouse in your attic, when it could be something much larger; and typically, they are not alone.

Can you imagine a young child sitting at a picnic table feeding raccoons as they come right up on the table with him? Well that was me. With what I know now I would never ever do that or recommend anyone else do it either. They look cute but are very dangerous. Please protect yourself, your pets and loved ones and let a professional deal with the raccoon problem for you.

Did you know that most people are optimist? I know you are finding that hard to believe with all the negativity out there. So let me give you the reason I say that. In our many years of experience we have found that most of our calls from our customers that have animals, like raccoons, that need to be removed from their home or businesses start off like this, “I think I have a mouse” or “I hear a little scratching”. Now understand these raccoons are nocturnal (mainly active at night) and a raccoon can get to the size of a medium dog, and you might have been laying in your bed with the lights off when you heard this animal and you wouldn’t get out from under the covers because you were so freaked out. But by the time you got to the phone and called us it turned into this cute little creature or possibly nothing at all, you say “I just wanted someone to come check it out, just in case”. I don’t know if I should chuckle or have a new hope for humanity. Well as positive of a thinker that I am. I also know it wasn’t a mouse banging on your ceiling waking you up from your slumber. Chances are if you can hear something it is probably not a mouse.

Also you need to keep in mind, it’s not just the removal of the raccoon that is important. Did you know that what raccoons leave behind should be dealt with as well? The older the droppings are the more dangerous they become. The central air is run through your attic.  Those racoon droppings can get in your air filter and can make you sick.  If you have allergies and have no idea what you are allergic to, consider the thought of animals in your attic.
